Please be aware that Microsoft Firmware needs to be updated on UEFI secure boot PCs before 27-JUN-2026. This is not needed on legacy boot computers I think only EUFI. Windows 11 machines will update automatically however Windows 10 and Linux machines will not. Please see the two YouTube videos bellow for further information:
Secure Boot uses digital certificates stored in your computer’s firmware to verify that the bootloader and early‑boot components are trusted.
Most devices will get new certificates automatically.
Even if the old certificates expire, your computer will continue to start and run, and normal Windows updates will still install.
If your device does not get the new 2023 certificates, it will no longer receive fixes for newly discovered boot‑level vulnerabilities. This means it will become progressively less secure against modern threats that target the boot process.
Linux distributions also rely on Microsoft’s Secure Boot certificates for bootloader signing. If your Linux computer’s old certificates expire, again your computer will continue to work.
Long story short: most likely nothing to worry about.
