At Remake we have 2 brand new Eposnow till systems that are unusable because there is a fault with the software which eposnow deem unfixable. They have refused to fix it and now we have been blocked from our account because we keep asking them to fix it and they wont. Too expensive and not worth the money for Eposnow to fix. So the bottom line is that we are left with 2 brand new unusable tills that we are looking at having to put to electrical recycling. And we don’t get out money back…Expensive recycling! And yes we have taken this to our MP for help!
Does anyone out there in the repair/IT world know anything about till systems/software that could help us out? is it possible to wipe the system and put different OS on it so that we can use them? is there any way we can get them usable so we don’t have to through them out!! Its so wasteful and so frustrating!
I’d be happy to take a look. It’ll depend on what’s actually inside it, and what else we could use it for, but there’s no harm in take a poke at it.

My ex used to be epos support engineer. I’ll ask him. By the way, do you have model number of the device itself? From my memory, it should be possible to wipe it and install clean. I also remember that the epos systems (more than 1 than I can remember) that he used to manage had different names.

I’ve picked up one of the devices from Remake. I don’t see any identifying info on the hardware, apart from the EposNow logo. I’ll probably try to get into it later on.
Booting it up, it appears to be a custom Android 9 build, settings identify it as “Countertop-Gen1” with a build number of “epOS-3.1.22-P.1-CTGEN1-20250326.125532”
Chatting with Remake, I think the bridges are well and truly burned with EposNow, so the goal would be to get access to the board an put something else on it. If it’s Android based, I wonder if I can root it, get ADB running, and see about reflashing it…
