Symptom: no sound other than very faintly from the headphone socket with the volume turned up to the max.
Solution: Replaced a relay, two transistors and two capacitors for good measure and now it works!
Nice work. What was dc voltage on speaker terminals? Always worth checking on old kit in case it’s likely to damage speakers. Did you find a service manual ?
I never checked the voltage on the speaker terminals. Yes, I found a PDF with a circuit diagram etc.

I’ve only done a couple of amps, but watching videos of experts it’s clear this is one of the early tests along with a dim bulb test in case there’s a short. If you had a large mV reading it might damage speakers.
