One of our new Fedora users asked me this question:
I sent a piece saved on ODT but my friend couldn’t open it (Apple). I can’t see how to save on Word. It comes up as an option on old documents saved on word but I can’t find that option for a new document. Can you help please?
This is a good question, and others will ask it, so here’s a HOWTO.
One-time save
If you just want to save a single document, then you want to use Save As rather than Save:
You can then select the file format in the selector at the bottom:
Change the default
If you want to save every file as MS-Office by default, then, you can alter your options (the very last item under Tools):
Then you can go to Load/Save → General → Always Save As and select the format you need:
